12 Months Already?

It doesn't seem real. Has it really been one year ago today that Jen and I went to the hospital and came home 4-5 days later with this now independent, loud talking, two-tooth smiling, munchkin head, angel? Absolutely amazing.

Dear Morgan,

Today is your first birthday! I know that you really aren't sure what that means - all that you know that this morning both Mommy and Daddy woke you up with that video camera in your face singing "Happy Birthday" really out of tune. Daddy then realized that the camera was not recording (duh!), so we had to reinact the your "1st birthday morning surprise"! It actually worked out better the second time anyway (although the singing was still WAY bad)!

Your Mommy and I were blessed to find out we were pregnant with you and can't believe how amazing, fearless, and independent you have become in just 12 months. Always remember that no matter how bad the situation may become (teenage years are 1 year closer - yikes!); no matter how much you think that we don't understand and that we are being too protective (don't worry you'll be allowed out of the basement by the time you are 35); your Mommy and I love you more and more each day. God has blessed our lives by allowing us the opportunity to see you each day and to love you each moment. We thank God for answering our prayers and sending an angel to us disguised as a baby girl!

Love Always,

Daddy (9/1/2006)
