Staring at a buck seventy-five

I have not run or exercised since October 7, 2007. For those of you that went through slow math in high school, that would be 138 days (3312 hours or 198720 minutes or 11923200 seconds). In that time, I have continued to eat as if I was actually exercising. The result?

I am staring at 175 pounds of blah!

The solution?

I am not waiting until March 1 to begin exercising again - beginning Tuesday (Feb. 26), I will begin the long trek of getting back in running shape. By running shape, I mean I would like to be able to run 3-5 miles without breathing too hard.

My ultimate running goal is to get my half-marathon (13.1 miles) time down between 1:30 - 1:45! That would be taking about 15-30 minutes off my run. A lofty goal, but so was the marathon, which I guess I never really finished - but it was not from lack of trying (stupid race organizers and 90+ degree weather).

I need to knock the dust and wipe the dried dog squeeze (long story, don't ask) off the shoes and start beating the pavement, grass, and sidewalks!
