Rotavirus anyone?

Jen, Morgan, and I are in Colorado this week for a conference for Jen's work. While I work from the hotel and Jen manages the conference, Morgan is playing with Gradma and Papa. Well, a couple days ago Morgan began to have the symptoms of your typical stomach bug (diarrhea and vomiting). That lasted for a day or day and a half, then last night she started to run a fever. Her fever spike to 104, so we were off to the Emergency Room in Littleton.

The nurses at the hospital were excellent! The doctor seemed to have her hands full, but was attentive. The diagnosis for stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and an elevated fever? Rotavirus.

This little bugger is not something to play around with. It is the marathon of stomach bugs that effects kids from 2 months to 3-5 years. There is a vaccination that they have made available just recently, after a number of years removed and put on the shelves. We are hoping that Morgan is on the down slope of the infection, but apparently it can lost for a number of days (like10 or so).

Keep Morgan in your thoughts and prayers! She is not a happy camper. Our flight leaves on Saturday evening (let's hope the stinky diapers and vomiting is over)!
