Prayer Warriors Needed!

Lastnight I spoke with a friend that is struggling with medical news. Her and her husband had an ultrasound performed yesterday to see the gender of their baby (17-19 weeks gestation) - a little girl (yeah!). The baby was seen to be completely healthy, but during the ultrasound the tech or the doctor noticed that the child had some congential anomalies on her fingers/toes.

The dad has a condition called poly-syndactyly (a condition that effects his feet and hands). Poly-syndactyly is basically the webbing of the feet and hands OR the presence of extra number of fingers or toes. Unfortunately, poly-syndactyly is a hereditary condition.

The dad has had a number of surgeries on this hands and feet throughout his life. Despite having different looking fingers and toes, he has accomplished so much in his life. He was a varsity athlete in high school (soccer goalie, state wrestler, and cross-country runner). He also played on the club soccer team in college (thanks to Title 9, the men's soccer program was cut). Now he is finishing his last year of residency in anesthesia (Chief Resident). So this disorder is only as limiting as the person and family diagnosed with it.

The family's first child does not have this disorder (a son). The dad is really pretty heart broken that his daughter is going to have to struggle through her life with this condition. He understands that the condition is not going to limit her, but also understands how stupid and mean kids and society can be towards someone looks different.

My request is that all you Prayer Warriors and Prayer Teams get to it. Please pray that God will touch and heal this little angels hands and feet; and to help the family feel the arms of God protecting and loving them as they struggle with the news. Also praise God for the otherwise healthy girl and continued health of the mother!

Much love,

Brian
