It is hard to believe that in October 2001 the days of listening to other people's conversations in the subway, at the bus station, or at the airport would end. The days of old when you walked passed someone and they were in a zombie-like state staring straight, their head giving the occassional bounce, no longer belonged solely to that really weird guy that smelled like that old, mildewed towel that some how got stuffed in the corner of your dorm room.
The world was introduced to the iPod 5 years ago this month. According to NEWSWEEK, there have been over 60 million iPods sold. (How many of those were sold to repeat customers because their battery wouldn't hold a charge?)
Does the music on someone's iPod give a good description of who that person is? Just because I have the greatest hits of Boston and Chicago on mine, does that take anything away from my manhood? (Please say no! I just recently got my man-card back from my wife...I mean, I love God, football, steak, and building things with my power tools.)
Anyway, Happy Birthday iPod! May you continue to keep the music in my head louder than the voices, AND support that one-legged computer company into the next decade!

Chicago is awesome. Don't let anyone ever tell you different.
