2 years and counting

Can you believe that it has already been two years since the infamous cranectomy (e.g., brain surgery)!?! Last year and two weeks ago (July 29) I made the fam-damily for "Family Dinner Night" eat at the hospital, since I was stuck in a bed with tubes in weird places and didn't get the chance to eat in the cafeteria during the original stay. This year we hung out at the pool on the "anniversary" of brain surgery. I think we all appreciated this year's "celebration" more so than last years reunion at the hospital! (The hospital did have some really great deep fried chicken fingers though)

So what has happened in the last two years? Let us see:
  1. Father of an extremely independent daughter (11 months old).
  2. No longer responding to bells (Pavlonian-like) - I am no longer teaching after 6 years of 13-19 year old requests of "can we just sleep today?"; "is this going to be on the test?"; "what happens if I don't do my homework?"!!!!!!
  3. Started working on a number of "stories" - at this point my life story would make a good day time story or book. (I have had to duct tape the mouths of the skeletons in my closet)

Life is an interesting journey of celebration and heart break. Loving my family and God is what keeps my life from falling out of sorts and into the deep crevice of darkness!
