We finally made it to Colorado (after a two hour wait to get the PA system working aboard the aircraft - which we realized about 10 minutes into the flight still wasn't fixed). Morgan did great on the flight over from Atlanta - considering she has a cold (temperature close to 100 degrees), doesn't like to be held for extremely long periods of time (flight is about 3 hours), and the change in altitude; oh, and did I mention that Morgan is 3 months old!
She only fussed for the first and last 3-5 minutes of the flight, because she was extremely tired. I often refer to those tired times as the Storm Before the Calm! This is when she throws her arms up, her head back and turns purple. Usually there is no sound for the first 2-3 seconds, just a small vibration from the intake of air filling her small lungs...and then BLAMMO! This sound that I can only describe as that of a pterosaur (quick science misconception: Pterodactyl is a misspelling of the Pterosaur) is projected from the sweet, kissable mouth of my 3 month old!
Many people think that a baby's cry is sweet and endearing. Obviously these people are D.I.N.Ks (Dual Income No Kids), O.I.N.Ks (One Income No Kids), or don't spend any amount of real time with children! Fussing can be cute, but when it comes to a hardcore, "someone has pissed in my Cheerios" cry, there is nothing nice about it! (Think nails down a chalkboard times a million OR fork scratching against a dinner plate!)
We will be in Colorado for the next week.
