Glory

Last night as I sat in the Men's Bible study for "In a Pit with a Lion", the leader of the evening went through one of the last chapters of the book and was saying that "God doesn't give us anything we can't handle". Now, I have heard this a number of times in church-world and I am sure I was warmed by this notion that God is looking out for my best interest.

But last night it took on a different meaning, bringing me to a new realization - that statement was 100% false; rather, I think the statement needs to be reworded to:

"God doesn't give us anything that HE can't handle"

We are selfish. We think that God is focusing on our problems and opportunities, and therefore He would never cause us pain, hurt, or embarrassment. When in fact, He is focusing on the opportunities that would bring glory to HIM. It is never about us, bringing glory to ourselves - it is about recognizing and going after the God-sized opportunities that surround us for HIM.

We aren't supposed to be relying on the strength that we have, because there will always be situations/opportunities that we will fail. We are supposed to rely on His strength and have the faith to understand that we aren't supposed to go alone, rather to go with the faith that He has our back.

I don't think this could be said any better. Well done.
