I have completed my first legitimate half-marathon - despite Marta breaking down, having to walk up a broken escalator (17 flights), and there not being any Powerade on the course.
Unfortunately, my stupid running chip in my shoe did not work, so my split times are not going to be accurate or even existent. All I know is that I finished the race at 2:00:45! I am excited to have finished the race strong and felt really good running it. It was a huge deal for me to have the support of family at the race. Special thanks to Jen, Morgan, Dad, Mom, Christy, Brandon, and Jackson for yelling for me between miles 10-11!
Brea (S.I.L.) also completed the half this weekend. She did great, especially since training in Colorado during the winter is difficult (now add 13 feet of snow). But to add to that - the weather was in the 80s and climbing through the morning. It is about 15-20 degrees warmer than the average March temperature. bottom line: she did awesome!
I have already decided that I will be running the Chicago Marathon on October 7,2007. So if you are in the Chicago area come watch me and 40,000+ of my closest friends run through the streets!
